Rock Properties & Geomechanics

Research in this area concerns understanding the physical, spectral, chemical, hydrological, thermal, and other characteristics of rock – not just their measurement, but also characterization of their variability and dust byproducts – as well as manipulating the behavior of rock and soil in engineering situations.

"Geophysical Imaging of Fly Ash Storage Sites"

Research Investigator:  Dr. Neil Anderson

Researchers will acquire geophysical data, including resistivity tomography control, across and in proximity to two fly ash storage sites.  The project will image the subsurface beneath the fly ash deposits with the objective of assessing the structural integrity of the foundation materials as required by recent federal government regulations.
